I wasn't at all worried about my miss insists Blues' Kalou

Salomon Kalou shrugged off one of the biggest blunders in FA Cup final history after Chelsea clinched the League and FA Cup double with a 1-0 victory over relegated Portsmouth at Wembley on Saturday.

Not since Brighton's Gordon Smith failed to score from six yards in the 1983 final against Manchester United had Wembley witnessed such a calamitous miss.

Kalou was only six yards out with the goal at his mercy when he somehow conspired to smash Ashley Cole's cross against the crossbar.

Fortunately for Kalou, his Ivory Coast team-mate Didier Drogba hit the winner with a free-kick from 25 yards in the 58th minute.

"I was not worried at all when I hit the crossbar," Kalou said.

"It was a cup final and in the final you can never predict the score.

"It was not like against Wigan where we scored eight goals

(six days earlier, to clinch the Premier League title), it was a different game with different tactics.

"As a team we worked hard and Didier Drogba did it at the end for us with a master free-kick, like he always does.

"It is a great moment for the football club and everyone at the club deserves to have the double.

"It was crazy in the dressing room, everyone was singing and dancing and it is good to make history for the club.

"It is something that we will keep forever in our minds and hopefully there is more to come."

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech felt his save from Kevin-Prince Boateng paved the way for Drogba to deliver the knockout punch against Portsmouth.

Cech saved Boateng's poor spot-kick in the 55th minute as the Blues won the FA Cup for the third time in four years and three minutes later Drogba slammed home a free-kick for the game's only goal.

Cech said: "I went the right way and until that penalty moment we had missed about seven chances and six times we had hit the frame of the goal, so we could not have been more unlucky.

"Then you have the penalty against you and a lot of people think that this is one of those days when you play well, have so many chances, and end up losing the game.

"This was the moment when they were so close but they missed and minutes later we scored the winner.

"It could have been a completely different story. It was a great moment for me and for the team because we got a lift and knocked them down a bit.

"Then, when we scored the goal we knew it was over and we had made the breakthrough. You could see for them it was tough to take, it was like a knockout punch."

Cech added: "I hope this is the first achievement of a long cycle, that we will able to defend the title and compete every year to win the double.

"As well, you can't forget there is still the Champions League missing for this club. I can see this club going forward again, this is a massive moment and it can give us a lot of confidence for next year."

Looking back over the season, the Czech Republic international added: "Throughout the season there were so many things going on – we were eight points clear, we dropped that, we had to win at Old Trafford to win the title.

"We survived many difficulties, we managed to go through it and we won the double."

Midfielder Joe Cole said: "This is always a lovely day for the fans and I'm so pleased for everyone. It's an incredible season."

But the England star, out of contract this summer, would not be drawn on his future.

"My focus is the World Cup now," he said. "I've got an opportunity to go to South Africa, I want to go there and I want to play, so that's where my full focus has to be."
