Barnsley striker Cauley Woodrow commits to club

PROMOTED Barnsley have been handed a further boost with the news that striker Cauley Woodrow has signed a contract extension - securing his future at the club until 2022.

The former Fulham frontman, who joined the Reds on a two-and-a-half year deal in January following an inital half-season loan, has been rewarded for an impressive season at the club, which saw him plunder 19 goals in all competitions.

The haul was all the more noteworthy, given that a hamstring tear suffered in his first training session with the club ensured that he did not make his bow until November.

But the Hemel Hempstead born player, 23, has quickly become a favourite with the Reds faithful since.

The development follows news back in November which saw another key player in Alex Mowatt sign a contract extension.

Several other leading players including Ethan Pinnock, Cameron McGeehan and Liam Lindsay see their deals expire next summer, with talks likely with the Oakwell board.
