His side sit top of the League One table as we quickly approach the halfway point of the campaign, and the Tigers look to be well and truly over the blip that put something of a dampener on their festive period.
In terms of the transfer market too, McCann seems to be fairly content with with his business thus far – so much so that he has turned to flatly denying his side's interest in some players.
Take Preston North End striker Jayden Stockely as an example.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a potential move to the KCOM in recent days, while Sunderland are also credited with a potential interest, but McCann has poured cold water over the rumours.
Speaking to BBC Humberside, the boss was asked about the reported interest in Stockely, to which he replied: “No.
“Like I say, we’re going to be linked with a lot of players in the January transfer window.”
He added: “We’re happy with our business, we feel as if we’ve got a good squad now and everyone’s chomping at the bit to play”.
It’s not hard to see why McCann has dismissed the rumours either.
Stockely has just one goal to his name this term, and according to Wyscout, has a shooting accuracy that is 5.4% lower than Josh Magennis’.
He also trails the Northern Ireland international in terms of his passing accuracy, dribble success rate, and his goal per game ratio.
Given that Magennis himself isn’t guaranteed a starting spot in this Tigers side, it’s understandable that McCann might be reluctant to bring in a player who, on paper at least, doesn’t immediately jump out as somebody who would improve his options at the top of the pitch.
Elsewhere, the Hull manager has admitted that there is lower league interest in a number of promising young City players.
He said: “We’ve had a few phone calls for some of our younger players to go to League Two and the Conference on loan.”
Hull have already allowed Max Sheaf to head out to National League outfit Torquay United on loan for the rest of the campaign.
