'˜It's about results' - Stuart McCall happy for Bradford City to bank the win and move on

City’s third home win in a row lifted the Bantams into fourth place and, although they were not at their best, McCall took satisfaction at a ‘job done.’

He said: “Walsall made it difficult for us, but I thought we were very flat in the first half with a lot of individual errors and we didn’t test their goalkeeper. However, we improved in the second half and we needed to do.

“We are at the stage of the season when it is about results. We have played far better and only come away with a point, but this is another three points in the direction we want to go.”

Influential winger Mark Marshall was at the heart of City’s best attacking moves and it was from one of his many crosses that Billy Clarke scored the winning goal in the 58th minute.

Marshall weaved his way into the area and, when Scott Laird failed to cut out his cross, the ball landed at the feet of the unmarked Clarke to score from close range.

Striker Charlie Wyke went close as Bradford tried to add to their lead before Colin Doyle, who denied Cypriot striker Andreas Makris in the first half, made another important save from Kieron Morris 11 minutes from the end.

The Bantams are now six points clear of seventh-placed Millwall, who have a game in hand.
