The Huddersfield-born player, in impressive form this season, has penned a new contract until the summer of 2023, with a further year's option in the club's favour.

Back in August, talented midfielder Callum Styles signed a new long-term deal with the club following on from the likes of Jack Walton, Romal Palmer and Matty Wolfe, who had previously committed their futures to the Oakwell outfit earlier this year.

It is an early birthday present for Williams, who turns 21 later this month.

Williams, who scored just the second goal of his Reds career in last month's EFL Cup win at Middlesbrough, said: "It's good to get it done.

"To extend my time at the club is great and I just want to keep on improving.

"Now this is sorted out, it's about climbing up the table, getting our season moving in the right way."

Commenting on the deal, Reds chief executive officer Dane Murphy added: "We are really happy to get this one over the line with Jordan.

"He's proven to be a key member of our squad over the last 12 months and deserves this new deal.

"To have him commit for at least the next three years is a significant bit of business."
