Kate may get call for World Cup
England's World Cup bid team last night sidestepped questions about whether Prince William would be asked to make new fiancee Kate Middleton their trump card in the upcoming 2018 vote.
Football Association president William will form part of England 2018's delegation for their final presentation to FIFA at the December 2 vote in Zurich.
The 28-year-old, who is second in line to the throne, this week formally announced his engagement to Middleton and the pair's impending nuptials are currently dominating the news agenda both at home and abroad.
"This is fantastic news and if it has a halo effect for our bid then all well and good," said England 2018 chief executive Andy Anson.
"He has done a fantastic job anyway."
