Sky Sports News are reporting that a compensation package has been thrashed out between Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani and his Terriers counterpart Phil Hodgkinson to enable the Spaniard to head to Huddersfield.

The John Smith's Stadium outfit had earlier asked for permission to speak to Corberan, 37.

Town sacked Danny Cowley on Sunday, with Hodkingson stating that Town were looking 'for a different vision for the way we operate the club.'

Huddersfield added that they were not accepting applications, indicating that they had a figure in mind to take over.

Speaking on Monday, Radrizzani said that he would not stand in the way of Corberan if he wanted to take on a challenge as a first-team head coach in his own right.

He said: "I understand the ambition of Carlos, last year he had some opportunities to leave to become a first team coach. I asked him to stay a year because we had an unfinished job.

"He did stay and I think now he needs have the credit to enjoy this success, his hard work every day. I know how much Carlos works.

"I think now it is good if he can take his own way, his own path, and start a new journey to build himself as a first-team coach. He deserves it.”

Valencia-born Corberan joined Leeds in 2017, initially as under-23 coach.

His side won the Professional Development League in 2018-19 with the Spaniard also promoted to the first team to work under Marcelo Bielsa last season, while continuing with his duties with the under-23 side.
