“Just need another 24 hours for this to settle. I’ll be fit for boro (Middlesbrough, Leeds’ next fixture) 100%. And can’t wait for it.”

The official Leeds United Twitter feed also confirmed the player’s withdrawal, adding: “ Ross McCormack has withdrawn from the Scotland squad and is returning to #lufc for treatment on a slight hamstring injury.”

The Scots could also be without keeper Matt Gilks who is a doubt with an undisclosed injury.

The 31-year-old Blackpool number one is waiting on an assessment by the Scotland doctor.
