Crystal Palace 1 Leeds United 1: Snodgrass equalises for Whites

ROBERT SNODGRASS rescued a point for Leeds United on his return from appendicitis but the Yorkshire club were still left disappointed at the final whistle, writes Richard Sutcliffe.

With Dougie Freedman opting to try and contain Leeds with a 4-4-1 formation following Sean Scannell’s red card just before the break, the visitors dominated possession.

It took, though, until the 63rd minute for United to draw level when substitute Robert Snodgrass swept a Ross McCormack cross past Julian Speroni.

There had been an element of fortune during the build-up as only the intervention of Kagisho Dikagcoi saw an Adam Clayton pass find its intended target of McCormack but there was no doubting the quality of the finish.

As Leeds then pressed for a winner, Snodgrass fired over and Danny Pugh wide. Ross McCormack also headed just over, while Clayton’s drilled effort from the edge of the area beat the post by a couple of feet.
