11.16pm: Nightmare for Hull City, their bid to sign Shane Long has fallen through because West Brom manager Steve Clarke pulled the plug when he missed out on the signing of Romelu Lukaka who opted to join Everton instead.

11.01pm: The Gedo loan to Hull City is not completed just yet, but it expected to be done before midnight. Likewise, the deal for Long is still to be completed by Steve Bruce.

11pm: That’s it, the summer transfer window officially closes with Hull City still trying to force through a deal in the region of £5m for Shane Long.

10.54pm: With minutes to go Middlesbrough are understood to have sealed a deal for Sierra Leone international striker Kei Kamara from Sporting Kansas City.

10.43pm: Gedo is reported to have completed a return to Hull City. The Egyptian had initially agreed a two-year contract extension until 2016.

10.20pm: As we wait for news of players coming in, Hull City have allowed Cameron Stewart to go on loan to Charlton Athletic.

10.05pm: In the last hour of the transfer window, it’s looking like the last business in Yorkshire will be done by Hull City who are trying to push through deals for international strikers Shane Long of West Brom and Republic of Ireland and Gedo of Al Ahly and Egypt.

9.59pm: Hull City say that striker Matty Fryatt - who has been subject of interest from Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Middlesbrough - will not be leaving the club, at least in this transfer window. There is always the prospect of Fryatt going out on loan when the emergency loan window opens next week.

9.36pm: Barnsley have completed a season-long loan deal for Peter Ramage from Premier League side Crystal Palace.

9.06pm: It is understood that Shane Long is undergoing a medical at Hull City with the deal of around £5m agreed between the Tigers and Premier League rivals West Brom.

8.50pm: Middlesbrough appear to have balked at the £4m valuation Genk have placed of Belgian striker Jelle Vossen. It was always going to be a steep price for Boro to pay.

8pm: Could be a player coming in at Barnsley, with Crystal Palace defender Peter Ramage currently undergoing a medical at Oakwell, according to reports.

7.50pm: Barnsley have released goalkeeper Ben Alnwick, a move that was inevitable given the Reds brought in veteran Mike Pollitt last week to put pressure on No 1 Luke Steele.

7.20pm: As we understand it, Southampton’s Billy Sharp is unlikely to leave the south coast, with a trio of South Yorkshire clubs - Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday - having been linked to the former Rovers and Sheffield United striker.

7.19pm: Looks like there’s legs in this Shane Long to Hull City deal. Understood that the Republic of Ireland international has left the international team hotel to head to Hull to discuss terms on a £5m deal. One-time Hull target Victor Anichebe is thought to be joining West Brom.

7.15pm: It’s all about Middlesbrough and Hull isn’t it. Middlesbrough have rejected an approach for Grant Leadbitter from Nottingham Forest.

6.42pm: Hull City’s search for a new striker has taken them to West Brom, where they have made an enquiry for Republic of Ireland international Shane Long.

6.35pm: Middlesbrough are closing in on Kei Kamara of Sporting Kansas City. The 29-year-old striker, who was on loan at Norwich last season, has been capped 15 times by Sierra Leone.

6.30pm: John Ryan has confirmed that Richie Wellens has extended deal at Rovers until January.

6.10pm: A blow for Hull City as Egyptian club Al Ahly have rejected an approach by the Tigers to take striker Gedo on loan.

5.20pm: A deal has been done at Hull City...but it’s not a big one, just yet. Defender Conor Townsend has joined Carlisle United on loan.

5.15pm: Middlesbrough are on the verge of being very busy. They’re still in the hunt for Genk striker Jelle Vossen as well as the Norwich City dup of Jacob Butterfield and Daniel Ayala.

4.49pm: Rotherham United have sent David Noble to League Two sides Cheltenham Town on loan.

4.19pm: Hull City have told Cameron Stewart he can leave the club. Championship duo Blackpool and Charlton are interested in a loan offer for the 22-year-old.

4.10pm: Middlesbrough are reportedly targeting Belgian striker Jelle Vossen from Genk while Wigan are interested in taking central defender Rhys Williams from the Riverside.

4.00pm: Nottingham Forest are understood to have entered into talks with Hull City striker Matty Fryatt, who is also a target of Middlesbrough and Leicester City.

3.15pm: Sheffield United continue to be busy on deadline day, signing Harry Bunn on a 28-day youth loan from Manchester City.

2.50pm: Bradford City joint chairman Mark Lawn says star striker Nahki Wells is not for sale. The Bermudan international has been the subject of interest from Leeds United and other Championship clubs.

2.28pm: One of Steve Bruce’s targets, Nicklas Bendtner has been pictured at Crystal Palace’s training ground.

2.15pm: Hull City boss is casting his net far and wide in the search for a striker. The latest names linked to the Tigers are West ham’s former England striker Carlton Cole and Wolves hitman Kevin Doyle, who was once a £10m target for Arsenal, and is now in League One.

1.30pm: Bradford City have extended the loan deal of Connor Ripley from Middlesbrough until January. The England Under-20s goalkeeper has yet to make an appearance for the Bantams during his first month on loan at Valley Parade.

1.15pm: Sheffield United have confirmed the signing of Florent Cuvelier from Stoke City for an undisclosed fee. The Belgian has signed a three-year deal. The attacking midfielder turns 21 later this month and had loan spells at Walsall and Peterborough in the last year but never made an appearance for Stoke.

12.15pm: FC Halifax Town have snapped up Marcus Carver from Acrrington Stanley on loan.

12.10pm: Middlesbrough have been linked to Norwich City’s Jacob Butterfield, who made his name at Barnsley.

12.05pm: It is being reported that Sheffield United have signed Stoke City’s attacking midfielder Florent Cuvelier.

11.55pm: More outlets reporting that Hull City are in talks to re-sign striker Gedo from Egyptian side Al Ahly on loan. Looking really credible that one. Steve Bruce’s side also have company in their interest in Victor Anichebe from fellow Premier League side West Brom.

11.37pm: Huddersfield Town confirm the paperwork has been completed on the sale of Jack Hunt for £2m to Premier League side Crystal Palace. Hunt has signed a four-year deal.

11.15am: Huddersfield Town are being linked Coventry City right back Cyrus Christie as a replacement for Jack Hunt who has joined Crystal palace for £2m.

10.31am: No deals involving our Yorkshire sides yet on deadline day, with just under 12 hours to go before the window shuts for business.

Our sole top-flight side Hull are continuing with moves to bring in a striker, while Tigers forward Matty Fryatt has been linked with moves to several clubs, including Leicester City, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough.

9.07am: Reports that Middlesbrough hoping to conclude a deal to sign ex-Leeds striker Luciano Becchio on loan from Norwich City today.

9am: Could be a busy day at Hull, keen to land a striker to boost their goal threat. Bendtner remains a big target, amid reports that City have also approached Al-Ahly to take Gedo back on loan. Other strikers linked include Victor Anichebe and Hugo Rodallega.

8.50am: Reports that Barnsley have made an approach to bring in Leeds’ left-back/midfielder Aidan White on loan after the transfer of Scott Golbourne to Wolves.

8am: At least the day dawns with the biggest deal in history concluded, Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for £86m.

No such funds being spent in Yorkshire, but Hull City are chasing a striker, Leeds United a winger, and the rest, anything they can afford to get their hands on.
