Four arrested after firework explodes in Leeds United stand

FOUR men have been arrested after two people were injured when a firework was set off in Leeds United’s Capital One Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town.

Police said the men, aged 18, 20, 26 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firework or flare at a sporting event.

It came after reports of a loud bang coming from the away section of the ground during half-time of Saturday’s game, which United won 4-0.

Two people are thought to have suffered minor burns.

The four men were bailed pending further enquiries.
