The Togo international’s days is searching for a new club after leaving White Hart Lane in September - and he is preparing for his next move in the new year.

Despite leaving Spurs and being a free agent, Adebayor is still being paid £100,000-per-week until his contract expires next summer - and any talks over the former Manchester City and Arsenal frontman’s salary will have to be thrashed out with White Hart Lane owner Daniel Levy.

Adebayor has also been linked with a move to Chelsea with his representatives reportedly holding talks with officials from the Blues, along with West Ham and Watford last week.

But Wednesday, on the cusp of the Championship play-offs and determined to build on an impressive first-half of the campaign, have also thrown their hat into the fray.

Wednesday are reportedly willing to pay Adebayor up to £50,000-a-week in wages and he could join on a short-term deal until the end of the season - which could become permanent if Carlos Carvalhal’s side earn promotion to the Premier League.

Thai owner Dejphon Chansiri has already spent around £10m on the Owls squad and will support head coach Carvalhal in the January window.

Chansiri has made no secret about his desire for the Owls to return to the Premier League by the time the club celebrate their 150th anniversary.

Meanwhile, Sone Aluko’s future at Hull City is likely to come under the microscope in January, with manager Steve Bruce likely to freshen up his attack in January.

Aluko has struggled to make an impact this term and has been frozen out of Bruce’s plan since the loss to Leeds United earlier this month.

Bruce said: “We all know what a good player he is but at the moment I’ve got people ahead of him.

“When Sone had a chance, like he did against Man City and Leeds, it was up to him.

“It’s fair to say he hasn’t taken it. He’s still got a part to play but we can’t keep waiting on Sone being the player he was a couple of years ago. Let’s hope he can get back there.”
