Gradel: I’m committed to Leeds -even though they haven’t re-signed me

MAX Gradel has pledged to give his all to Leeds this season, despite claiming he has not been offered a new contract.

The Ivory Coast winger scored 18 goals and won the club’s player of the year award last season, but his current deal expires next summer.

Manager Simon Grayson has expressed a desire to keep the 23-year-old during a summer that has seen bids placed for him, but Gradel says the club have not made him an offer.

Despite that, though, he has vowed to try and better last season’s exploits, and in quotes that surfaced in a number of national newspapers, Gradel said: “Since I came to Leeds, I’ve always said that I want to be at this club.

“My contract finishes at the end of this season and I’ve been waiting for another contract but I haven’t been offered one yet.

“I don’t know what’s happening and I’ll wait and see. My wish was to do it as early as possible but it’s not down to me, it’s down to the club.

“I can’t sign a deal if there isn’t any deal to sign. But really, all I want to do is concentrate on football and play football.

“There will be higher expectations of me but I love pressure and it makes me play better. My aim would be to score more than 18 goals this season.”
