While the rivalry between Huddersfield Town and Leeds United is a relatively fresh one – both clubs having only been in the same division consistently over the last few years – there have already been some huge games between the two.

That is not to dampen down the importance of past clashes, as Town fans will undoubtedly be able to speak with great detail about the victory inspired by their current caretaker manager.

Here is our look at four significant clashes between the West Yorkshire rivals:

This was the first time Town had beaten Leeds at Elland Road since 1963. Colin Russell put Huddersfield ahead, thanks to a deflection from Martin Dickinson, but Leeds equalised. However, the man who will be in the dugout for Town on Saturday, Mark Lillis, struck in the second-half to give the Terriers a huge win.

Leeds United 4-0 Huddersfield Town - December 8, 2007

Kept apart by various divisions, this was the first league meeting between the two sides since 1987. Leeds were at a low ebb, having been deducted 15 points at the start of the campaign, but 32,501 packed Elland Road to see United put Town to the sword. Jermaine Beckford bagged two, along with Jonathan Douglas and Tore Andre Flo scoring one each.

Huddersfield Town 1-0 Leeds United - April 15, 2008

It had been another long wait for Huddersfield, but 23 years after their last victory against Leeds, Town had Andy Holdsworth, nodding home from a Joe Scarz cross, to thank for their single goal victory. Both teams ended the game with 10 men, Douglas sent off for two yellow cards before Jon Worthington saw red for Town.

Leeds United 5-1 Huddersfield Town - February 1, 2014

The game seemed almost like a sideshow when it finally came about, but this day will live on in the memories of Leeds fans for a long time. Manager Brian McDermott was seemingly sacked the night before at midnight, but his team took full advantage of a Town team ready to collapse after going a goal ahead. Captain Ross McCormack was inspirational, scoring a hat-trick, with Jimmy Kebe scoring a stunning solo effort that belied the rest of his loan spell and Alex Mowatt scoring his first for the Whites.
