The Portman Road club - currently fourth in the Championship - are believed to have made an approach to take Hunt before tomorrow’s emergency loan deadline.

A deal for Hunt would run until January and he is one of two strikers in line to quit United in the next 24 hours.

Leeds have already agreed a deal to send Nicky Ajose to League One Crewe Alexandra for the rest of 2014 and Hunt also looks likely to move on.

The former Republic of Ireland international has been a peripheral figure at Elland Road all season and has not played for the first team since the opening week in August.

His two-year contract is into its final 12 months and will expire next summer. He is yet to score a competitive goal for Leeds.

Hunt and Ajose are working to finalise their transfers ahead of tomorrow’s 5pm emergency loan deadline.
