Jason Pearce ‘to arrive at Leeds within days’

PORTSMOUTH defender Jason Pearce could be at Elland Road as soon as next week.

Portsmouth’s administrators were reported to be finalising the deal today, for a six-figure sum.

Pearce is widely tipped as manager Neil Warnock’s first big signing on the close season - a move precipitated by Postsmouth’s financial crisis.

Leeds appear to have succeeded in luring Pearce, 12 months after he joined Portsmouth from Bournemouth for a fee of £500,000.

Administrators were today reported to be “dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s, tying everything up.”

Pearce began his career with at Fratton Park and moved back to Portsmouth last summer after four successful years and more than 160 appearances at Bournemouth.

He was named as Bournemouth player of the year shortly before his departure.
