Leeds line-up still a work in progress: Pearce

LEEDS United captain Jason Pearce believes Darko Milanic’s best line-up is still to fall into place, a month on from the Slovenian’s appointment as head coach.

But the centre-back hopes United’s team is poised to click and start delivering the results which have eluded Milanic since his arrival at Elland Road on September 23.

Milanic - chosen by Leeds as a permanent replacement for ex-head coach David Hockaday - took three points from this first five games as manager and was still looking for a first victory in charge ahead of today’s meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 46-year-old admitted this week that he “didn’t know every detail” about his large squad yet but was gradually deciding on his most effective team.

And Pearce said: “It’s still a work in progress. There’ve been a few changes to the team and I don’t know if the gaffer knows what his best team is yet but hopefully we’re not too far away.

“Everyone’s pushing each other and we’ve got a massive squad here. If there’s a suspension or an injury then players are pushing.

“With me, you’ve got Coops (Liam Cooper) here who’s a very good player and unlucky not to have played a bit more. I’ve got to be on my toes.”
