Leeds United boss Warnock says ‘good riddance’ to Townsend

Neil Warnock has suffered his first loss as Leeds United manager - that of loan winger Andros Townsend.

The Tottenham Hotspur player has cut short his loan spell at Elland Road and returned to his parent club after playing just seven games for Leeds United.

Townsend joined on New Year’s Day and scored in the victory over Doncaster last weekend.

Speaking ahead of Leeds’s trip to Portsmouth, new boss Warnock said: “I’ve lost Townsend.

“His agent told me he didn’t like it here, he wasn’t happy, and he hadn’t settled.

“I’ve heard that Birmingham want to sign him, I don’t know if that’s got anything to do with it.

“I’m disappointed because we’ve lost a player, but I don’t want people who don’t want to be here so good riddance I say if that’s what he wants to do.”

Leeds also lost Fabian Delph this week with the Aston Villa loanee returning to the Midlands with a season-ending injury.
