Leeds United close in on Forsell signing

Finland international striker Mikael Forssell is today flying in to England in the hope of signing a contract at Leeds United.

Since leaving Chelsea in 2005, Forssell has played at Birmingham City and Hannover 96, but has recently been in training with Leeds and is hopeful of signing permanently for the Whites.

Because Forssell is a free-agent he does not have to sign during the transfer window but he said he saw his trial period at Leeds as a “big opportunity”.

While Leeds manager Simon Grayson admits the squad need to be strengthened in other areas, the deadline day disappointment of losing Max Gradel and not bringing in any new players after his departure could sway Grayson into signing the 30-year old forward.
