Leeds United: Silvestri’s father is ‘sorry the fans have become suspicious.’

THE father of Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri has hit out on social media at the actions of four of the club’s foreign-based players who declared themselves unfit for Saturday’s clash at Charlton Athletic - labelling it as a ‘stupid protest.’

The move comes as the fall-out following the controversial absence of United players Silvestri, Mirco Antenucci, Giuseppe Bellusci, Edgar Cani, Souleymane Doukara and Dario Del Fabro continues – with owner Massimo Cellino insisting he had nothing to do with the events that led to six players pulling out of the weekend game and that he did not tell the players to go on strike.

Slivestri’s father Claudio claimed on Facebook that the keeper was missing with a genuine injury and also went onto state that striker Antenucci was also out with a legitimate problem.

But he went onto criticise the other four players for declaring themselves unfit.

Speaking on Facebook about his son’s injury, Claudio Silvestri said: “He does not know if he can train this week.

“He is really sorry the fans have become suspicious, he tried to explain but I’m not sure they understood.

“A part of Marco also Antenucci is really injured (sic) the other have done, for what I know, a stupid protest.

“He is furious with those assholes because he took the whole season to make his name through the fans and now he is risking to spoil the relationship with them and with the environment.

“It’s an unbelievable coincidence.(the four players being injured along with Silvestri and Antenucci.”
