One player definitely back in the fray is centre defender Giuseppe Bellusci, back after a two-match ban with the FA clearing him of racially abusing Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome late last week.

But Sol Bamba’s excellent form is likely to see him remain in the starting line-up at the Madejski Stadium, where Leeds have yet to record a victory, with their last win at Reading coming at their former Elm Park home in December 1987.

Redfearn, who will take a big squad down to Berkshire, said: “The biggest thing is the turnaround for the players and if you have niggles or injuries, then obviously you will have to bear that in mind.

“We will take a big squad and we have got to keep them all together.

“You get to this time of the season and you do pick up niggles, knocks and bruises and it is up to the people who do come in to pick up the reins and play well; like the lads have done to stay in the side.”

On the clash against the Royals, managed by Steve Clarke, who was linked with the vacant Elland Road post in the autumn, Redfearn added: “It’s a tough game, but our away form has picked up a little bit and we are playing a bit better and have got a couple of results.

“We have got to go there with confidence. We are playing well at the moment; we perhaps didn’t play as well on Saturday, but we perhaps did enough to get something.

“The mood is still upbeat.”
