Leeds United: Whites’ transfer dealings are all but done – Rosler

Dallas is due to undergo a medical today ahead of a £1.3million move to Leeds, giving Rosler his seventh deal of the summer and concluding his long-running search for a winger.

Dallas, 24, has agreed the terms of a three-year contract at Elland Road and is expected to seal his transfer in the next 24 hours. The deal includes the option of a fourth season with Leeds.

Rosler has been pushing to land a winger before the start of the Championship season and while the club’s head coach refused to comment on Dallas specifically, he confirmed that an arrival was imminent in the aftermath of Saturday’s friendly against Everton.

“With due respect, the player is under contract with Brentford,” Rosler said. “I would only like to speak about players who are under contract at Leeds United.

“It’s fair to say that we are hopeful that on Monday we will bring in a new player.”

Dallas played no part in Brentford’s friendly against Norwich City on Saturday having returned to his native Northern Ireland following a family bereavement.

Brentford boss Marinus Dijkhuizen, however, confirmed that Dallas was looking to move on after three years at Griffin Park.

The winger was original signed by Rosler while United’s head coach was manager of Brentford in 2012. Dijkhuizen revealed that Dallas was refusing to extend his deal in London.

Dijkhuizen said: “He has a year left on his contract and he doesn’t want to sign so he might leave in the next couple of weeks.”

Dallas is one of a number of wingers who Leeds have been linked with in the run-up to the start of their Championship term which gets underway at home to Burnley this weekend.

Leeds made an approach for Catania’s Raphael Martinho but later pulled out of talks with the Brazilian and the club have also expressed an interest in Sunderland’s Will Buckley.

Buckley was left in England while Sunderland contested a friendly against Hannover 96 in Germany on Saturday and the Premier League club are looking to selling the former Brighton player for around £1.5m.

But while sources in Leeds indicate that an eighth signing on top of Dallas is possible, the YEP understands that Buckley is unlikely to arrive at Elland Road before the end of the FIFA window.

Rosler spoke highly of his existing squad after goals from Alex Mowatt and Chris Wood rounded off United’s pre-season schedule with a 2-0 win over Everton, in front of a crowd of 17,000 at Elland Road.

Rosler has lost Luke Murphy and Tommaso Bianchi to knee surgery in the past few weeks but the Leeds boss said: “I think in terms of permanent deals, when that (the Dallas transfer) goes ahead we are done.

“Obviously there’s the loan market which could also be attractive under certain circumstances.

“Today we had a squad of 18 who I regard as outfield players. That’s not the biggest squad in the world so we always have to have our eyes open.

“When we need to tap into the loan window, maybe we can, but there is no real need at this moment in time. Coaches and managers are never 100 per cent satisfied.

“I would be very satisfied if Luke Murphy and Tommy Bianchi were at my disposal.

“But apart from that we’re in good nick and good shape.”
