Leeds United’s return to Burnley evokes fond memories for Howson

Jonny Howson is relishing a return to Burnley this Saturday, a season on from his dramatic winner over the Clarets at Turf Moor.

Captain Howson capped a stunning comeback from 2-0 down with a late winner against Burnley.

And he hopes to take those positive vibes into Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off at Turf Moor.

Howson said: “The main thing I remember from that day is the feeling of coming off the field where all the Leeds fans were and the noise they were making.

“You can hear them in the changing room at Burnley singing above you and it’s moments like that you need to cherish in your career.

“You look back at moments like that and it’s reasons like that why you take part.

“Saturday will be another tough game but it’s one we’re looking forward to.”

Leeds look likely to have Robert Snodgrass back in action following a successful surgery on his thumb.

Finland international Mika Vayrynen will miss the game after undergoing groin surgery.

“We won’t rush someone back too early,” said United manager Simon Grayson.

Leeds also hope to conclude a deal for Birmingham goalkeeper Maik Taylor.
