However, the 24-year-old admitted his frustration at a lack of first-team action.

Doukara made a total of 27 appearances last season for Leeds, scoring seven times.

However, only six came after the turn of the new year, the majority of those from the bench.

The former Catania striker has only played eight times during this campaign, but his appearance against Wolves on Thursday was comfortably his best.

Introduced from the bench before the 30th minute, Doukara altered the tie.

Leeds had been poor, but within 15 minutes they had equalised. Within another quarter of an hour, they had blitzed the Molineux side, storming into a two-goal lead.

Doukara remains hopeful that a good display can lead to more minutes on the pitch in the future.

He said: “Every player wants to play. To be on the bench was not easy for me. Now, I think I will have more game time. It’s important for me, but I think the most important thing is the team.

“We took the three points and everybody is happy, the fans, the gaffer, everybody in the team. That is the most important thing.”

When asked whether he would be upset over missing out against Preston, Doukara continued: “No, because everybody has to work hard to take the shirt. We have to work hard and play like this every week.

“I always felt optimistic. I worked hard to get back into the team, and helped the team to win.

“I am ready to help the team and to play every game.

“Everybody is important in the team. We have to stay ready, everybody has to stay ready to help the team win games like this.”

Doukara also hailed the impact of experienced players in an otherwise young dressing room.

“The atmosphere is good. The dressing room is good. We have good players,” he said, “We are younger and we have a lot of players with experience, like Sol Bamba and Mirco Antenucci. They help us to play well.”
