Official: Leeds beat Owls to sign David Norris

LEEDS United have agreed a deal to sign David Norris from Portsmouth, beating Sheffield Wednesday to the midfielder’s signature.

Norris is expected to complete his transfer to Elland Road in the next 24 hours having travelled north to undergo a medical.

The 31-year-old looked to be on the brink of a move to Hillsborough after holding talks with Wednesday earlier this week but Warnock has succeeded in landing a player he began chasing at the start of the summer.

Norris will become United’s ninth signing of the close season and is joining the club in the same week as Warnock agreed deals with Andy Gray, Jamie Ashdown, Luke Varney and Rodolph Austin.

He has made over 400 appearances in a long career which took him to Bolton Wanderers, Hull City, Plymouth Argyle and Ipswich Town before his move to Fratton Park last summer.
