Redfearn warns Leeds squad of ‘dangerously evolving’ Blackpool

HEAD coach Neil Redfearn has warned that Blackpool are a dangerously evolving breed ahead of Saturday’s Championship crunch clash at Elland Road, declaring: “they’re decent”.

Blackpool are bottom of the table with just seven points from 16 games and the Tangerines are already nine points adrift of safety.

But Redfearn can see clear signs of improvement under new Tangerines boss Lee Clark and anticipates a performance belying their position of a team that are bottom of the league.

Blackpool raced into a 2-0 lead at Fulham on Wednesday evening and were probably only denied victory by captain Tony McMahon being sent off just before the break.

But even with ten men, Clark’s side held on for a highly credible 2-2 draw and Redfearn says anybody expecting an Elland Road walkover will be sadly mistaken.

Leeds are desperate for a victory themselves having not won in eight games but United’s coach says Saturday’s fixture is anything but the gimme it might appear on paper.

Redfearn warmed: “Everyone can look at the league table and see that they are bottom of the league but I think they have changed.

“Obviously they have changed their manager, they have brought four or five players in, they are playing a bit differently and to go and put themselves 2-0 up at Fulham is no mean feat.

“And then they went and got a point with ten men.

“They’re decent. They’re not bad and when I look at their squad they’ve got decent players.

“He (Lee Clark) has brought one or two better players in and they’ve got pace in the side so it’s going to be a tough game for us.

“It’s going to be a tough game but these are the games - particularly at home - that we have got to start winning.”
