Team news: Sone Aluko is out for a minimum of two months with a torn Achilles, while Robbie Brady is also unlikely to start at St Mary’s as he continues to recover from a hernia problem. Alex Bruce and Abdoulaye Faye are fit and could step in if Steve Bruce opts to start with a three-man defence.

Championship

Barnsley v Doncaster Rovers

Team news: Barnsley are missing ankle victims Jacob Mellis and Danny Rose. Goalkeeper Luke Steele is also sidelined with a back injury and suffered a further setback in his recovery plans this week. Rovers are without influential captain Rob Jones (arm) and Jamie McCombe (back) but Theo Robinson (hamstring) is fit after missing out last time.

Team news: Stephen Warnock is unlikely to feature due to injury. With Aidy White out on loan and Adam Drury also struggling, Danny Pugh could win a recall after more than a year out of the side. Sam Byram is also struggling so Lee Peltier will continue to deputise.

Derby County v Sheffield Wednesday

Team news: Owls boss Dave Jones reports new fresh injuries. Kieran Lee is in non-contract training, but could step things up with some physical involvement next week.

Huddersfield Town v Birmingham City

Team news: James Vaughan completes a three-game ban for his red card at Leicester City last month, meaning Jon Stead is again likely to start. Martin Paterson is still troubled by a hand injury, while Jonathan Hogg is also a doubt with a knee problem.

Middlesbrough v Watford

Team news: Mustapha Carayol is pushing for a recall after being surprisingly demoted to the bench at Blackburn last weekend after a fine performance in Boro’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Doncaster last time out at the Riverside. Jozsef Varga could make way.

Team news: Febian Brandy starts the first game of a four-match ban, with Callum McFadzean (ankle) out and loan player Aidan White ineligible. Fellow loanees Conor Coady and Simon Lappin have been granted permission to play. Shaun Miller could make his first start in over ten months, while Neill Collins is okay to play despite suffering a nasty injury just above his eye last weekend.

MK Dons v FC Halifax Town

Team news: Winger Adam Smith is the major doubt for the Shaymen after having failed to train all week. He suffered foot and ankle injuries in the 3-0 defeat at Alfreton but Neil Aspin is determined to give Smith as long as possible in the hope he can recoverr.

Rotherham United v Bradford City

Team news: David Worrall is injured but loan player Matt Tubbs is available and Claude Davis is fit. For City, Garry Thompson is the main worry after he missed training earlier this week. James Hanson has been ill but should be available as Phil Parkinson ponders whether to rotate his squad.
