Warnock is keen on former Blade Tonge

Former Sheffield United midfielder Michael Tonge is wanted by the Elland Road club.

Tonge is believed to be one of the options Neil Warnock is considering as the Leeds manager bids to solve a shortage of central midfielders ahead of Saturday’s game against Cardiff City.

The 29-year-old played under Warnock for seven years at Bramall Lane and he is available on loan after Stoke City left him out of their 25-man Premier League squad.

United have also made an approach for Tottenham Hotspur’s England international Jermaine Jenas.

Meanwhile, Leeds and Doncaster Rovers have both admitted an FA charge of misconduct relating to the tunnel brawl which followed the end of their Championship game at Elland Road in February.

Their respective punishments will be set at a later date after Doncaster requested a personal hearing and Leeds requested a non-personal hearing.
