Warnock seeks emergency loan signings to bolster Leeds

The Whites will host Birmingham at Elland Road tomorrow in the npower Championship with Warnock waiting for updates on injured duo Rodolph Austin and Lee Peltier who both missed Tuesday’s 1-1 tie with the Addicks due to ankle problems.

“Rudy has had a scan. He has a slight problem with his ankle,” Warnock said.

“Pelts has one as well but I don’t think there’s anything too much wrong and he was feeling a bit better on Tuesday. I think we’ll be okay come the weekend.”

Warnock added: “It would still be nice to have more in the squad to allow us to change things.

“We’re going to work on that. I’m talking to the chairman about trying to bring one or two loan players in.

“We have to be able to change it a little bit more and we’ve got to have pace over the top when we’re behind or when we want to push on and win a game.”

Leaders Leicester are at home to Crystal Palace and manager Nigel Pearson is glad he has been able to prove some of his critics wrong with a strong set of results.

The 1-0 home win over Brighton on Tuesday was Leicester’s sixth successive win at the King Power Stadium and means they are just above second-place Cardiff on goal difference.

“I think you can see what it means to us (to be top). We have worked hard to get to the top of the table,” Pearson told the Leicester Mercury.

“We have come in for a bit of criticism, mostly from people who haven’t seen us play. They see the games we have lost and make assumptions.

“I know that we could have won every game we have played this season.

“I am not suggesting that we should be sitting at the top with a full house because football isn’t like that, but we have been in every game and we have created chances in every game.

“All in all, we are at the top because the players have worked very hard in games and on the training ground.”

In the other games, bottom side Ipswich, who parted company with manager Paul Jewell on Wednesday, are at home to Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough are at home to Bolton and Huddersfield visit Millwall.

Elsewhere, Barnsley host Nottingham Forest, Blackburn play Watford, Brighton travel to Blackpool, Cardiff host Burnley, Peterborough play Derby, Wolves host Charlton and Bristol City take on Hull.
