Warnock: This vital month for Leeds

Leeds saw their run of six Championship wins at Elland Road broken as a second-half goal from Fraizer Campbell inflicted fresh damage on the club’s bid for a play-off position.

Warnock was left to rue a bad mistake by right-back Sam Byram and missed opportunities in either half but the United manager drew confidence from his side’s display as they geared up for two vital matches away from home.

Leeds travel to Wolves on Saturday before visiting Middlesbrough a week tomorrow for a clash with the club who sit six points ahead of them. United broke a poor spell of away form with an FA Cup win at Birmingham City last month but their success at Huddersfield Town on December 1 is their only league win outside Elland Road since the start of October.

Warnock said: “Every game is crucial for us now and we’ve got a tough month ahead so it’s extra disappointing not to have taken anything from Cardiff. We should have something. I hope we don’t play as well at Wolves and win.

“But I don’t see any reason why we can’t play like this away from home now. We turned the corner at Birmingham and we haven’t played away since but we’ll create chances and score goals. We’ve got three away games now which couldn’t come much tougher – Wolves, Middlesbrough then Manchester City in the cup.”
