Leeds in hunt for La Liga defender, Bielsa plots ambitious raid for Real Madrid talent

Leeds United go into this weekend's Premier League action off the back of their stunning late victory over leaders Manchester City last time out.

The three points they took from that result lifted the Whites up into the top half of the table, having picked up 45 points from their first 31 matches.

Speaking in the aftermath of the win over City, however, Marcelo Bielsa was eager to keep his side grounded.

He said: "It's part of Leeds' campaign in the Premier League.

"The position that Leeds obtain in the Premier League this year will be above any one performance.

"Of course for the players to have been able to overcome the difficulties of the game, it adds value to each of the participants in the game.

"It's not the same to play well and to win in a game that is successful than when you play in a game that is less successful.

"But I think the effect is over the players individually and as a team and then after it's the evaluation in the table where each team finishes."

Next up for the Whites is a clash with last season’s champions Liverpool on Monday night.

The last time these two sides met on the opening day of the season they produced one of the games of the campaign, with the Reds eventually running out 4-3 winners.
