Leeds United in hunt for £13m defender, Bielsa tipped to lure playmaker to Elland Road

Leeds United are still interested in signing Sampdoria defender Omar Colley this summer.

The Gambian international has been the subject of widespread speculation in recent weeks, with an exit from the Serie A club looking increasingly likely.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men have already been name-checked once by Italian outlet ClubDoria46 as one of the sides who are interested in luring him to England in the coming months, and the same website have reiterated the Whites’ desire to land him again in a fresh report.

It is understood that a fee of around £13 million could be enough to secure Colley’s services, but Leeds will have to do battle with Fulham and West Ham if they are to snap up their man.

Interest in the 28-year-old is understandable too, with the player currently ranked as Sampdoria’s highest performer this season, according to stats website Whoscored.

Elsewhere, former Elland Road stopper Paddy Kenny has argued that Norwich City star Emiliano Buendia could find it hard to resist a move to Leeds this summer.

The Athletic reported recently that Victor Orta is a big fan of the player, and Kenny thinks a deal could happen.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “He’s an exceptional player. Norwich are as good as promoted now and he’s played a massive part in that.

“Would he want to leave? Can you turn Leeds down? It’s a tough one. He’s Argentinian too. With Bielsa, that could sway it.”
