Leeds United 'in the spotlight' for £17m-rated midfielder as Whites target sees price tag reduced to £30m

Speculation surrounding Raphinha’s future at Leeds United has been relentless over the last month or so.

The Brazilian, signed for a bargain £17million from Rennes last summer, has been recognised as one of the signings of the Premier League season.

His outstanding performances, which have brought him five goals and five assists, has been talked up in the media – and reportedly attracted admirers from elsewhere.

Liverpool and Manchester United are the two clubs to be predominantly mentioned, however, director of football Victor Orta has moved to crush those rumours with words that will be music to Leeds fans’ ears.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Orta said: "To be clear, we have not had any approach for Raphinha and we would not welcome one.

“It’s only for clickbait and to create business for the websites.

"We are really, really happy and we believe he’s a player that’s a substantial part of the project – and more now when there’s still a lot of things to do.”

Meanwhile, there is an update in the French media linking Romain Faivre to a move to Elland Road this summer.

According to reputable publication L’Equipe, "Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds have been in the spotlight for several months”.

Brest will demand around £17million for the 22-year-old’s services, and there is a suggestion they would want him back on loan.

Here are the latest transfer headlines from around the Premier League, including much more on Leeds:
