Leeds United transfer headlines: Whites offered £30m for star, Marcelo Bielsa future latest, Erling Haaland update, Leeds make signing

Leeds United’s first season back in the Premier League has unfolded well so far.

But the Whites were quiet in the January transfer window but Victor Orta has already started scheming for the summer ahead.

Indeed, head coach Marcelo Bielsa revealed that Leeds offered as much as £30m last summer for Brighton’s Ben White following his loan spell at Elland Road

"To build a team is not a task done in one year. In the case of their centre-forward, to replace him they brought in a player with good pedigree," Bielsa said when asked about Wolves' team-building process in reference to Raul Jimenez, who has missed the majority of the season with a head injury.

"We made our signings at the beginning of the year. A big effort for this. A big effort to preserve Meslier, Harrison, Helder Costa and to bring in the other four.

"To adapt your squad is a difficult or complicated task. To have a complete squad in your first year in the PL is very difficult. Very important to develop some players.

"In the case of Pascal, Shackleton, players you have to look for a good RB, eight, CM or CB. We have to make reference to how much it would cost to get good players in those positions.

"The example is Leeds wanted to buy Ben White for £30m and we weren’t able to. We have to go in a careful manner and evolve the group."
