The move had been expected, with Robins manager Richie Wellens saying two weekends ago he expected it to happen today.

Stevens will not be the only Leeds youngster sent out on loan to further his development, but ideally the Whites are looking to bring more players in before they move their youngsters on.

Midfielder Robbie Gotts is another who has been linked with a move away. Hull City and Huddersfield Town – now coached by former Leeds Under-23 coach Carlos Corberan – have both been suggested as possible destinations.

Stevens has made six first-team appearances, the last of them as a substitute in the final match of last season, but was not in the matchday squad for the League Cup penalty shoot-out defeat to Hull City.

Stevens had a loan spell with Forest Green Rovers in 2017-18.
