Leeds United transfer news: Player 'packing his bags' ahead of move, Bielsa blocks first team exit

As the transfer deadline edges ever closer, it’s looking increasingly likely that Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will be making do with the players he already has at his disposal for the remainder of the season.

New faces look like they are unlikely to arrive before the end of the month, but there could still be some movement on potential outgoings.

According to a report from La Voz de Asturias, Whites forward Rafa Mujica is said to be “packing his bags” already as he nears a loan move to Las Palmas.

The 22-year-old started his youth career with the Gran Canarian outfit, and looks all set for a return after a miserable loan spell with Real Oviedo.

Mujica has been given just 132 minutes of action with the La Liga 2 side this term, split across five appearances in all competitions.

Despite his limited opportunities, however, he has still hit the back of the net twice, and has averaged a goal every 66 minutes.

As a point of reference, Patrick Bamford, who has enjoyed a superb start to the campaign, has a goal every 161 minutes.

Clearly, a change of scenery is required for Mujica, and the hope will be that a fresh start could provide the spark he needs to finally realise the potential he showed during his spell with Barcelona's youth setup.

If it does, both he and his parent club could benefit.

Elsewhere, a report from Turkey suggests that the Whites have block Ezgjan Alioski from leaving the club this month.

As per Haberturk, the 28-year-old was a target for Galatasaray, but Marcelo Bielsa personally intervened to prevent him from making the move this month.

Whether a deal could be revisited remains to be seen, however.

The Macedonian is out of contract in the summer, and the report suggests talks had already been opened between his representatives and the Turkish club.

Alioski has been a regular feature of Bielsa's starting XI this season, and has already amassed 17 Premier League outings, including 14 starts.

Given that his manager is so keen on consistency and building a cohesive unit capable of adhering to his principles at Elland Road, it's hard to imagine the versatile talent being allowed to walk away too easily…
