Leeds United transfer news: Whites close in on eight-figure deal, Former Bielsa player linked with Elland Road switch

Jack Harrison has been at Leeds United for so long now that it’s sometimes easy to forget that he is actually on loan from Manchester City.

The winger is in his third season at Elland Road, and having racked up 116 appearances for the Whites already, he is very much part of the furniture in Yorkshire.

But this summer it looks as if Leeds will finally pull the trigger on a permanent deal for the 24-year-old, with The Athletic suggesting that an agreement has already been reached, and that a fee of around £11 million will be enough to secure a switch.

With six goals and four assists to his name already this season, Harrison has proven that he has the quality needed to compete in the Premier League, and has adherence to Marcelo Bielsa’s uniquely demanding style of play has been evident from his early days with the club.

In fact, his exemplary work ethic was even highlighted by former Wales manager Chris Coleman during a recent appearance on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

At £11 million, if that is indeed the fee required to secure his services, Harrison could be an absolute bargain.

Elsewhere, Leeds are considering a move for Torino centre-back Nicolas N’Koulou, according to Calcio Mercato,

The Cameroonian is out of contract with his current employers in the summer, and has previously worked alongside Bielsa during his time at Marseille, with the Argentine said to value him “very much”.

N’Koulou has made 11 Serie A appearances this season, and for a side who have been blighted by defensive injuries this season, his arrival on a free transfer could be hugely welcome boost.

The Cameroonian has quality in his game too.

Compared to Elland Road stalwart Liam Cooper, for instance, he has made 1.12 more interceptions per match this season, as well has registering a pass completion rate that is 5.3% better, and making 1.02 more clearances too.

Again, as with Harrison, bringing in a talented player who understands Bielsa's approach on such a cheap deal is surely a no-brainer, if the opportunity does indeed arise.
