Leeds United transfer news: Whites plot raid for Argentine winger, release clause revealed as prolific striker touted

Leeds United are plotting a raid to land Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos this summer.

That’s according to Football Insider, who suggest that the Whites have turned their attentions towards an ambitious swoop for the 26-year-old.

A fellow countryman of Argentine manager Marcelo Bielsa, the wide man has been in impressive form this season, scoring four goals and assisting four more in La Liga.

His eye-catching performances have alerted a number of sides to his progress in recent times, and Football Insider previously reported that Wolves are also monitoring his situation as the summer approaches.

Any deal for Ocampos could come at a hefty price, however.

It is understood that the player has a release clause valued at £62 million written into his contract.

Whether Sevilla would let him go for anything less than that amount remains to be seen, and it will be interesting to see whether Leeds would be capable of matching that fee otherwise.

Elsewhere, the Whites are also said to be keen on signing Raul De Tomas from Espanyol, as per Fichajes.

The striker made the decision to stay with the Spanish side despite them dropping out of La Liga last season, and thus far, his loyalty has been more than vindicated.

The 26-year-old has hit 16 goals in 29 outings this term, with his side leading the division on goal difference.

Leeds are said to be one of three clubs monitoring De Tomas, with West Ham and Leicester City also keen.

Whether Leeds are able to steal a march on their rivals could hinge on if they sell club record signing Rodrigo this summer.
