Leeds United transfer news: Whites prepare raid for long-term Premier League target, Elland Road mainstay in demand

After a quiet January transfer window, it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see Leeds United use some of the energy they conserved last month to launch a revitalised offensive in the summer market.

Of course, nothing is set in stone, but with a fresh injection of investment from the San Francisco 49ers to consider as well, there are reasons for supporters to be justifiably – if a little cautiously – optimistic.

One name who the Whites have been linked with consistently in recent weeks is Adama Traore.

The Wolves winger is one of the most threatening physical forces in the Premier League, and according to a report from Spanish outlet Sport made last month, Marcelo Bielsa would be “delighted” to bring the 25-year-old to Elland Road.

Eurosport now go one further than that article, suggesting that the Whites will make a move for the wide man, and claiming that Leeds have been tracking him all season.

Traore boasts a very unique style of play, and the threat he offers to a side makes him difficult to contain on his day.

Former Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier once described the Spain international as “incredibly frightening” during an appearance on Soccer Saturday, and it’s not hard to see why.

Traore has averaged 13.99 dribbles per 90 minutes this season, with a success rate of 68.7%, as per Wyscout.

To contextualise those numbers, Jack Harrison has averaged 5.35 with a success rate of 48.7%.

Given the emphasis that Marcelo Bielsa places on speed and physicality, Traore feels like he could provide an interesting means of diversifying this Leeds side.

Elsewhere, Castellon are said to be preparing a summer bid for Pablo Hernandez.

The veteran playmaker holds a special place in the heart of Leeds fans everywhere, and his contribution in the latter stages of last season were a key factor in the Whites sealing promotion.

But the 35-year-old has struggled for game time this season, and has been limited to just 274 minutes of Premier League action.

Castellon were understood to be keen on signing him last month, although nothing every came of that speculation, and this could be a story that rumbles on for months to come.
