LUCIANO Becchio revealed that former Leeds United players Robert Snodgrass and Jonny Howson had helped to sell him a move to Norwich City after making his exit from Elland Road.
The Argentinian striker quit United yesterday (Jan 31) after a four-and-a-half year stint with the club, the fourth player in 18 months to accept a transfer from Leeds to Carrow Road.
Becchio signed a three-and-a-half-year deal and joined Howson, Snodgrass and Bradley Johnson at the Norfolk club, continuing an exodus which began with Johnson’s free transfer in July 2011.
Becchio said: “I spoke to Robert Snodgrass and Jonny Howson about Norwich and they both had really good things to say about the club and the city. I can’t wait to play my first game.
“I’m really happy about having the chance to play in the Premier League. It’s brilliant for me personally and for my career.
“I have very good memories of Leeds so it’s a little bit sad to leave but that’s football. I can only say thankyou to all the fans of Leeds – they will always be in my head.”
