THERE may be bright skies for Huddersfield Town, Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday given their current position in the Championship top six.

But there is one potentially dark cloud looming in the east.

Norwich City have hit a warm front again after some plummeting temperatures earlier this winter and in the autumn.

The Canaries and their embattled manager Alex Neil would have been thoroughly glad to see the back of the old calendar year, but the restorative qualities of the new year have served as a welcome tonic.

Five victories have arrived in seven league games so far in 2017, with just one defeat - that coming at Rotherham United on January 14.

In the current six-game form table, only Huddersfield have amassed more points (15) than Norwich's 13.

It is probably why those at Yorkshire's high-flying trio will not be too unhappy if the Canaries drop points in tonight's big game with Newcastle United at Carrow Road, which joyously witnessed Norwich's 5-1 weekend destruction of Nottingham Forest.

Seventh-placed Norwich, as it stands, are just two points adrift of Wednesday, who do admittedly have a game in hand. The Norfolk outfit are four points behind fourth-placed Leeds, having played the same amount of games with the Whites checking out their rear-view mirror.

Intriguingly, Norwich must still visit Hillsborough, the John Smith's Stadium and Elland Road.

Don't rule out Derby and Fulham either. Four of the Rams' next six fixtures are at iPro and they face big games with the Owls and Town in the run-in. Fulham also have late-season visits to Sheffield and Huddersfield too.

Interesting, very interesting as Barry Davies might say..
