Managers have their say: Barnsley, Blades, Rovers, Owls, Leeds and Huddersfield

SEAN O'DRISCOLL and Lee Clark were the only Yorkshire managers to have smiles on their faces last night. Here we gauge the reaction from Yorkshire's managers.

Championship

Sheffield Wednesday 0 Doncaster Rovers 2

Alan Irvine, Wednesday manager, said: "The better team won the game, they deserved to win. We had a couple of big moments obviously, early in the game we hit the post twice at 0-0 and they were good chances.

"We need to pass the ball better, we didn't pass it so well. We worked hard, you know you're going to have to do that against Doncaster with the way they play.

"They get an extra man in the middle of the park quite often and they move the ball around well.

"It's important that when you do get possession you use that well but we didn't do that in this particular game."

Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll said: "We played well against Forest (1-0 win at the weekend) and we wanted to put back-to-back performances together.

"Elliott Ward's come in and done really well and everybody else has matched what we did on Saturday, so I'm pleased.

"I've known him since he was a kid at West Ham, he is a ball playing centre-half.

"I thought his use of the ball was excellent and it's one of those, it's in the box and he's had a stab at it and it's one for the archives.

"We've just had a look at it on the tape in the dressing room and it will be one for him to show the kids when he gets a little bit older."

Nottingham Forest 1 Sheffield United 0

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell said: "I spoke to Darius Henderson (sent off) - he feels hard done by that's for sure, but without seeing it I can't comment.

"As a manager we're not allowed to speak our minds, because you get done for berating officials.

"I want to talk about the officials, but I can't.

"It was a sloppy goal, but from that early setback, I thought the lads responded well."

Scunthorpe United 2 Barnsley 1

Barnsley boss Mark Robins said: "If you don't take your chances then unfortunately you're not going to get a point.

"We created a fair few, missed them and so we got punished.

"I expected to get at least a point from this game, if not the three. I'm really gutted we didn't get a point but on the balance of play I think we should have got all three."

Leeds manager Simon Grayson said: "There's a hige disappointment when you lose games, but when you lose in the manner we did on Tuesday it hurst even more.

"We have a great opportunity to get back on track at the weekend.

"We're still in a good position, second in the league, a few points off the top and a few points off third with a game in hand.

"We've built an opportunity in the first half of the season and we have to see it through now - and I'm positive we'll do that."

Town boss Lee Clark said: "I'm pleased we have got the victory. They gave us a bit of a scare in the last few minutes of injury time and I thought the goal we gave away late in the game was a sloppy one.

"We could have put the game to bed before half-time to be honest. We had ourselves in good positions in behind their defence with the opportunity to pick our heads up and pick out our attackers but the final ball just wasn't there at times and it ended up being a little more nervous than it should have been."
