The Tigers twice took the lead, but were pegged back at the KC Stadium.

In the Championship there were defeats for Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield United - but Alan Irvine's Sheffield Wednesday continued their fine form with victory over Plymouth.

In League One, Leeds United and Huddersfield enjoyed victories, while Bradford City came from behind to win in League Two at Torquay.

Rotherham United's game was off because of a frozen pitch, but York City won 1-0 in the FA Trophy.

The Tigers were in front after just 11 minutes, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink pouncing to score, but a Anthony Gardner own goal brought Wolves level on 49. Stephen Hunt restored the advantage with a 52nd minute penalty, before Matt Jarvis made it 2-2.

Championship

Cardiff City 2 Doncaster Rovers 1

Michael Copra put Cardiff ahead after nine minutes. But Gareth Roberts equalised for the visitors on 65 minutes only for Jay Bothroyd to grab a stoppage time winner.

Reading 1 Barnsley 0

Shane Long fired Reading ahead on 29 minutes with the only goal of the game.

Sheffield Wednesday 2 Plymouth Argyle 1

Rory Fallon opened the scoring on 22 minutes for the visitors, before Luke Varney equalised within a minute. And it was the on-loan striker who grabbed a winner for the Owls on 42 minutes.

West Brom 3 Sheffield United 1

The Blades were behind after 19 minutes when Graham Dorrans converted a penalty, before Roman Bednar doubled the advantage on the half hour. Darius Henderson reduced the deficit on 49 minutes from the penalty spot, but Jerome Thomas made it 3-1 within a minute.

Jermaine Beckford netted from the penalty spot on 38 minutes, before adding a second on 55.

Yeovil Town 0 Huddersfield Town 1

New loan signing Nathan Ecclestone was on target after 19 minutes with the only goal of the match.

Match postponed due to frozen pitch.

Torquay United 1 Bradford City 2

Stuart McCall's side suffered a poor start as Chris Robertson fired Torquay ahead on 15 minutes. It looked desperate for the visitors before Gareth Evans came up with an equaliser on 82 minutes and added the winner in stoppage time.

Andy Ferrell scored the decisive goal after 40 minutes from the penalty spot to take City into the next round.
