It was a good day for the majority of the region's football clubs with wins for Barnsley, Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town, Rotherham United and Bradford City.

Hugo Colace's goal was enough to secure all three points in Barnsley derby clash with Sheffield United in the Championship, while Leeds United came from 2-0 down to beat Burnley 3-2 at Turf Moor. Hull City earned a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.

Sheffield Wednesday hammered Bristol Rovers in front of the onlooking Milan Mandaric at Hillsborough in League One, while leaders Brighton lost 2-1 at Huddersfield Town.

In League Two, there were 1-0 wins for Bradford City and Rotherham United, but York City crashed to a 1-0 defeat against Boston United in the FA Trophy.

Brian Easton (29) and Jay Rodriguez (37) put Clarets in front, before Max Gradel (52), Luciano Becchio (66) and Jonny Howson (85) staged a second-half revival.

Crystal Palace 0 Hull City 0

The Tigers earned a point at Selhurst Park after a goalless draw.

Leicester City 5 Doncaster Rovers 1

Billy Sharp (6) netted for Rovers before Paul Gallagher (45) equalised from penalty spot. Richie Wellens (61) put Foxes in front, before Kyle Naughton, Darius Vassell and Martyn Waghorn added to the home tally.

League One

Huddersfield Town 2 Brighton 1

Glenn Murray (52) put Brighton ahead after earlier missing a first-half penalty, before Jordan Rhodes (56) equalised. Jamie McCombe (84) gave Terriers victory.

Sheffield Wednesday 6 Bristol Rovers 2

Will Hoskins (6) opened scoring before Chris Sedgwick (10) equalised with a header and Tommy Miller (23) and Gary Teale (25) put Owls in control. Jermaine Johnson (32) then skipped through for a fourth goal. Hoskins (65) pulled a goal back for Rovers, before substitutes James O'Connor and Paul Heffernan replied for Wednesday.

David Syers (8) found the target on his return to Bantams side, to claim all three points.

Wade Small missed first-half penalty before Adam Le Fondre (40) grabbed the home winner.
