MATCH CENTRE Huddersfield Town 2 Leeds United 2: Clark praises derby duo

HONOURS ended even in a thrilling West Yorkshire derby as Gary Roberts rescued a late point for Huddersfield Town.

The derby, which the Terriers led at the break courtesy of Anthony Pilkington's first half opener, had initially been transformed by two Leeds goals in five second half minutes.

First, wonderful skill from Jonny Howson saw the ball worked out to Robert Snodgrass on the right flank.

The Scot then rode a wild challenge from Dean Heffernan before swinging over an inviting cross for Howson to head past Alex Smithies.

Town's highly-rated goalkeeper was equally helpless on 66 minutes when Richard Naylor flicked a Snodgrass corner for Luciano Becchio to head home.

The home side's best chance came with 16 minutes remaining when Peter Clark powered a header against the post after rising above the Leeds defence to meet a corner.

At that stage, Leeds looked in control but Huddersfield rescued a point eight minutes from time when Anthony Pilkington's cross was stroked into the net by Gary Roberts.

"It was a brilliant game; both games home and away this season have shown that West Yorkshire has two very good football teams," said Town boss Lee Clark.

"I hope deep down that both these sides get promoted come the end of the season, so we can have this fixture in the Championship."
