Defender Liam Darville, on loan from Leeds, was not included for the Millers. Nick Fenton shrugged off a calf injury but Dale Tonge (foot) remains sidelined.

Arnaud Mendy has returned to Derby without playing a game after his proposed loan move collapsed.

The Millers conceded twice in three minutes on the hour mark. First Craig Davies netted from close range, then three minutes later Marc Richards pounced for a second.

Josh Walker scored a consolation for Rotherham but defeat leaves them five points adrift of third-placed Bournemouth with seven games remaining.
