MIDDLESBROUGH secured their survival with a dramatic win over Sheffield Wednesday in the final game of a prolonged Championship campaign.

The Owls led through Jacob Murhpy but Paddy McNair equalised before Britt Assombalonga claimed the winner for the visitors deep into time added on.

Kieran Lee, 6: Poor defending for the match-winner, as Assombalonga was unmarked in the final minute of the game.

Liam Shaw, 6: Making his full Owls debut, did well in a very open first half. Was subbed seven minutes into the second half.

Barry Bannan, 7: Tried to get forward with intent during the first half and early stages of the second but was well marshalled by Boro's midfield.

Atdhe Nuhiu, 5: After scoring a brace at Fulham he was unable to continue his form in front of goal against a physical Middlesbrough defence in what could be his last appearance for the Owls.

Connor Wickham, 5: Was guilty of giving away the ball for Boro's equaliser. Held it up well.

George Friend, 7: Was focused and helped to limit the Owls' chances despite the hosts finding plenty of space in between the midfield and defence.
