MIDDLESBROUGH'S manager Tony Pulis has no issue with the transfer dealings at Championship leaders Wolves following criticism from some divisional rivals who believe that their link with Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes is an unfair advantage.

Mendes, who has no official title on the Wolves website, has a number of clients at the club, including head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, £15m midfielder Ruben Neves, Atletico Madrid loanee Diogo Jota and £7m winger Ivan Cavaleiro.

A number of second-tier clubs, including Aston Villa, Derby County and Leeds United, have voiced dissatisfaction to the Football League over Mendes’s influence.

Pulis, who has a fully-fit squad apart from striker Rudy Gestede, out for the season with a fractured ankle, said: “They have been the best team in the league this year and rightfully sit where they sit. I have no problems with what they have or have not done.

“If you look at the majority of clubs that are pushing on now they have had investment from overseas.

“It is part and parcel of the game. The people who have come in there have really backed them and they have recruited some top players – I say fair play to them.”
