MK Dons v Doncaster Rovers - Jason Lokilo winging in for Darren Moore

Darren Moore is excited about what on-loan winger Jason Lokilo can bring to his Doncaster Rovers team but, as with everything, is refusing to get too far ahead of himself when it comes to the prospect of making the 21-year-old’s stay permanent.

The Belgian has joined on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of the season, and is in the squad which travels to Milton Keynes for today’s League One match against the Dons.

Lokilo made his debut from the bench in last week’s 3-1 win at home to Wycombe Wanderers. After just one senior appearance for the Eagles, in the 2017-18 League Cup, it is not unreasonable to think a good loan could lead to something more permanent. Moore is not thinking about that yet.

“Certainly, he has the ability when games are tight to unlock the door in terms of his ability and speed,” he said.

“I won’t speculate too much on him because we’ll wait and see but that is the ability he has.

“Every player we try to bring in has to work for the football club and Jason has been brought here because we believe in his talent and ability. It’s something we haven’t got in the team.”

Likewise, Moore is refusing to speak about his team’s play-off chances while they are outside the top six – by seven points at present.

“I don’t really comment on it and it’s easy for me because we’re not in it,” he said. “When we’re in it, if we do get in it, then I’ll talk about it then.

“For me it’s just about the next game up. We’ll just focus on that, the game, and we look to try to continue from a good result that we had against Wycombe.”

Left-back Reece James made his comeback from a severe laceration to his shin in the Under-23s last night, and Rovers have no fresh injuries.
