Forster-Caskey, who has a year left on his contract, was out of favour on the south coast last term with Brighton willing to let him leave the club.

The ex-England U21 midfielder, 22, is keen to stay in in the Championship and may be reluctant to move north, having spent his entire career in the south.

Forest, Preston, Reading and Birmingham have also been linked with the striker, along with Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers.
